[...] Yesterday, the OB1og got hit pretty good — for me anyway — by a bunch of Pearl Jam fanatics after someone posted links to my two PJ posts on the pearljam.com forums. Seems like those that posted back came away with the idea I hate PJ. What up with that? [...]

Agreed, I just wanted to get something out there given I had just posted the other Pearl Jam piece recently. I will update this or do an aside or something once I have had more spins. When I posted the other, I didn't think this one was out until the end of this month, otherwise I would have held it.

I'm going to wait before posting my comments on the album, because I know my initial impressions of a Pearl Jam album (or any album, for that matter) are never the same at first listen as they are later. Usually I end up liking the album a lot more once I've gotten to know it...like a person.

I am sharing my IM conversation with Joe again - Sean

This part was before I listened and wrote this post:

Joe: New PJ disc is pretty good.. certainly not a "Ten" or "VS" or "Yield", but still decent - more I listen, the more I like it. Certainly a bit more "angry" than past disc, at least lyrically (although not much can top the contempt that drips in "Bu$hleager")
Joe: Gotta say the artwork in PJs disc is a little disturbing

This part was as he was reading this post:

Joe: There were a couple 'vaguely familiar' songs on the disc to me... Parachutes sounds like what would happen if Pearl Jam did a Beatles song
Joe: I thought "Unemployable" was a cover it sounds so familiar...
OB: I feel like Unemployable is right about where their sound should be these days
OB: I don't know that it seemed familiar though
Joe: Unemployable isn't really my favorite on the disc...
Joe: I know... for some reason the way he's singing sound like old Kiss or Alice Cooper
Joe: That's what it is that makes it sound 'familiar'...
Joe: and there's another song that's on the tip of my brain that has a similar guitar riff that's in Unemployable
Joe: Guitars in Army Reserve sound like U2
