[...] Back in April, I posted a comment on Sean’s V for Vendetta review, where I listed my Top 5 Comic Book movies. That lists stands with one noticeable omission that I have rectified here. Remember – feel free to post your own faves or join in a discussion in the Comments below. [...]

[...] Overall, I think the film is excellent. In the comments of my V for Vendetta review, Ed left a little list of his favorite comic book movies and I echoed them with a small change and the hope that Superman Returns would crack the list. Well, it did and here’s my new list: [...]

Oh, here's two more flicks that I beg people to watch:

David Cronenberg's adaptation of The Dead Zone and John Carpenter's remake of The Thing. Carpenter really knew how to use Kurt Russell. No Herb Brooks here. It's all about MacCreedy and of course, who can forget, Snake Plissken.

I used to think the Burton Batmans were the shiznit - then Chris Nolan showed us how it's done. Now the Burton Batmans are one step removed from Schumacher.

That's a tough top 5 to crack. No Burton Batmans, interesting. So, I think my top 5 is the same but I'd flop 4 and 5. I'm hoping Superman Returns breaks in there though.

As for spoilers, don't worry about that here my friend. I'll do my best to spoil everything for everybody!

Evey and the letters are straight out of the comic version. Pretty much word for word too. I agree, great stuff and very powerful.

V for Vendetta is on my short list of favorite comic book films. Currently it is my favorite film of the year - there's something about it that really touched me. Two sequences in particular possessed great power.

Without going into heavy spoilers, I found the whole Valorie sequence (Evey reading Valorie's letter) to be truly heartbreaking. And then (and I have to be real careful here) - the 'passive resistance' on display at the end of the film - was thunderous.

V may have been short on traditional 'action' but it was no less riveting. This film has joined that pantheon of flicks that I plead with people to check out. It settles in alongside Miller's Crossing, Dark City, True Romance, A Simple Plan, the Evil Dead series and The Big Lebowski as one of those films that is just so perfect in execution - in taking me away. There are others on my short list of faves and while they may not make the AFI's Traditional 100 Great Moments in Cinema - for me, these films are pure bliss.

Oh - as for that list of favorite comic books films - here goes:

5. Blade
4. X2 - XMen United
3. Spiderman 2
2. V for Vendetta (this may eventually tie the #1 spot)

and my all time favorite comic book film...

1. Batman Begins

ToyFare #106 had a really funny "Twisted ToyFare Theater" gag where Alan Moore fights Oscar Wilde. It was completely out of the blue and had nothing to do with the main storyline...very bizarre.

But yeah, Moore has very much become the cranky old reclusive genius. A cranky old reclusive genius who occasionally emerges to write comics like the current Albion for Wildstorm.
