[...] Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest was probably the true winner of the season. I think it was an excellent follow-up to the first and I am eager for the third installment. Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow is worth the price of admission alone. [...]

We also had:

- Lord Cutler Beckett as The Emperor
- Cutler's right-hand man and assassin as Boba Fett

Others I thought of now:

- Davy Jones as Jabba the Hutt. Hey he's slimy and he's looking for the Han character to settle a debt.
- Bootstrap Bill as Anakin as he was betrayed by the dark-side and Luke thought he was dead and in this case, betrayed by piracy and he did think he was dead
- Voodoo Lady (Tia Dalma) as a Yoda type that they seek advice from
- Gibbs as Chewie (I forget who we said originally, but this makes more sense and he's sorta furry)
- The Black Pearl can be the Millennium Falcon

The one character we seem to be missing is Darth Vader. Did we have one?

Here's the Empire comparison:

- Jack is Han and meets a fate worthy of Han
- Will is Luke
- Elizabeth is Leia (meaning she's probably Will's sister)
- Sub finding out your a pirate for finding out your a Jedi
- The former undead pirates (short fat guy and tall skinny guy with British accent) are R2-D2 and C3P0 - although Barbosa doesn't remember ever owning a short balding fat guy nor a tall, skinny bloke with one glass eye)
- The Kraken is the Death Star
- The Commodore is Lando and even pulls a Lando on our heroes by selling out to the 'empire' - which here is the East India Trading Company

I read an article where Orlando fesses up that his Mom called him after the failure of Kingdom of Heaven and Elizabethtown to talk him off the ledge. Apprarently he was buying his own press that his was the It boy. Yeah, that sells Tiger Beat, but not sure how many tix to a 3-hour Crusades epic it nets you. Although, that doesn't explain the failure of Elizabethtown. Of course, to that I say by casting a bland leading man with a shrieking bobble-head psycho chick leading lady in a remake of Garden State - you're bound for failure.

It's amazing how little screen presence Bloom has. This is the second gigantic film franchise with more than six words in the title of each film where he plays second banana to the real hero (Aragorn and Jack Sparrow). I think he can act, he's just kind of bland—at least in the LOTR and POTC franchises. I never saw Kingdom of Heaven, though I wanted to...does he carry that one?
