@Jen: I caught the start of it because I was watching Chuck. I saw Angela caressing Sylar and telling him she never should have given him up for adoption and then she "fed" him... after that, the show definitely has lost me. I heard/read about the Sylar partnership with Daddy Bennett, and that is just ridiculous. Show is off the rails!

But, by all means, everyone continue to discuss here so I feel like I am in the loop. ;)

Okay I just watched last week's Heroes online. What's up with Micah staying in the same house as his mother's casket? eww. The Hiro part is still kind of annoying, but I kind of found the Sylar/Bennett pairing interesting. I think I am watching cause it's there as well though. Ah well.

I've watched the Heroes episodes so far... they're okay, but far from the first year. I'm kinda with Ed - I'm watching it because it's there...

As for the "worm" - My first thought was that it was a worm from a bottle of Tequila (figuring that Creed would have that in his desk... ;) )

I agree with you that the little things made this episode. No question about all of those you point out, especially Jim's "Really? Nothing?" on the scale to Michael. That picked up from last season's ender where it was a similar situation with Holly.

As for Holly, I am still trying to decide if I like her or not. In a way I like that she's a dork (is that what Jim said?), but also not because sometimes it seems a little forced to me. You forgot about her finding out that Kevin wasn't special. That was funny.

I hope it was a Gummi worm and not an Earth worm. That's just gross... but I guess not unexpected.

Lastly, I agree with you about them nailing the characters. It is the combination of the right actor to character across the board that make this show work with the excellent writing. I think that's where these other Brit adaptation, and heck, just plain US shows are lacking. Truly Must See viewing.

As for Heroes, sounds like you should drop it for Chuck. You know, if you are just looking to fill an hour, it is a better quality hour.

Oh - and I think skipping Heroes is a decent decision. I'm watching it simply because it's pleasant enough to kill an hour but it's not like you're life is ruined should you never see another hour again. You've got enough on your plate (viewing wise) so its probably a good take it -or - leave it show. The fact that ratings were down 25% from last year is not a good sign for it. I just want to find all those "Heroes is Better than Lost" maysayers who were baying to the moon a couple of years ago and offer up a hearty "-'sup, bitches?!?!"

I disagree about The Office. I thought it came back strong and one of the big elements to this show is all of the little subtle stuff (the blink and you miss it stuff).

Cases in point:
1. Dwight offering everyone a taste of eclair with the following "You can hold it in your mouth but don't swallow." Jim then looks to Michael, expecting the "That's What She Said", when it doesn't come Jim offers up an incredulous - "Really?"

2. The Body Image class. Michael posted his usual gallery of famous people with the affliction. For 'obesity' he had two random fat dudes, Jabba the Hutt, the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man and Big Momma.

3. That's the beauty of Creed. I have no doubt he didn't give her a gummi bear. And if he says it wasn't a tapeworm, then just wondering what type of worm he did make her swallow is the best. Classic creepy Creed. Plus - he gets bonus points for cutting his rice like coke.

4. I love the goatee nonsense - especially Dwights. Too late to the party.

5. I've ALWAYS hated Ryan (from way back) so seeing him become the temp again is fitting. I love Jim's little interaction with him - to which Jim got added to THE LIST.

6. I really like Holly - the female Michael Scott. The fact that she's taken Dwight's place in his little rap segments to the camera was great.

7. Loved the camera man getting faked out by Jim and then audibly sighing because he couldn't film inside her room.

8. Holly's line to Kevin - "Yeah, math is hard."

9. And of course, the visit with sad-sack Toby who makes it to Costa Rista and immediately breaks his neck zip-lining. And who comes to visit him? The camera man. "It's nice to have visitors."

So, I have to disagree. I thought this season started strong. At this stage, I could care less about the Jim-Pam romance but I will say that this is the one comedy on TV that has nailed their characters. The characters can be as outlandish as anything on Seinfeld but they always feel real. That's a tough balance to achieve and I think they nail it.
