[...] This post is co-sponsored by the letters “M” and “S” (or should that be “S&M”)? Apparently I was subconsciously only watching movies that started with those two letters last month. There is also a secondary sponsorship by Danny Boyle since I watched three of his flicks, which accounted for half of my intake this month. That’s down to six compared to the let’s-call-it-a-dozen from the previous post. [...]

Hancock - The worst thing about Hancock is you can tell it was given the studio hatchet job. Apparently the script had been in devo in Hollywood for years and was considered "epic" - a whole different take on superheroes as Gods. In fact Michael Mann, who produced, was set to direct it. Then the studio kept whittling away at it - trying to bring it down to 90 minutes so they could squeeze as many showings as possible. Too bad because there was potential. And - geez - even if you didn't know the secret, they do a pretty good job of telegraphing it the second the secret shows up on screen. This was, as you say, an amusing waste of time.

Role Models - I covered this on my site and agree wholeheartedly. And that Jane Lynch is great in everything but I'll never look at a hot dog in 7-11 the same way again.

Mr & Mrs. Smith - I liked the concept and their gun battle in the middle but this was definitely lacking. Another great premise that just didn't quite knock it out of the park. Weird too as it was directed by Doug Liman who did Go and the first Bourne flick. I expect better from that dude.

Wonder Woman - I wholeheartedly agree. DC Animated is on a tear and the Green Lantern flick looks great. They've got me jonesing for superhero flicks starring superheroes I never gave a rat's ass for in the first place - so they're doing something right. Justice League is on a whole 'nother plane though.
