Yeah, I'm with you on that Tess stuff - that is a lame character and to me, just an excuse to keep the "Lex Mansion" sets and not have to blow money on building new sets for the show. Kinda wish she'd go away... I guess I'm fine with Zod coming back, just thought they'd touch on alot of the Supes badguys and nemeses - and not revisit them (ie: Bizzaro, Zod, Doomsday, Brainiac)... I'd love for a Superman vs. Batman thing, but that'll never happen ;-)

@Joe: AFAIK they intentionally don't say "Superman" and instead like to hint at it with word play. I don't think there is a contractual rule that says they can't. With respect to continuity and Jimmy, etc., they haven't been sticking to it anyway, so I don't see why they'd bother with this, but according to some nerd updating Wikipedia:

At his funeral, his full name is revealed to be Henry James Olsen, not James Bartholomew Olsen. His camera is given to his younger brother. His name is not mentioned but the boy is wearing a bowtie[14] leading to the possibility this is the Jimmy Olsen that will befriend Superman.

So, I'd say you are on to something there. As far as his parents go, remember that he kept making excuses about them not being able to make pre-wedding stuff before finally coming clean about it. I don't remember exactly what the explanation was, but I think it had something to do with his father being a d-bag and I think the brother is a stepbrother.

Lois didn't necessarily go into the future. Remember that the ring takes the wearer to the time they think about and Lois is likely thinking back to a time before Davis takes Chloe, or really emerges as Doomsday, so that she can save her.

Lastly, I like the idea of bringing Zod back into the fold. Remember that in this continuity, Doomsday is Zod's genetically bred offspring, so him getting into Davis' body isn't out of the question. Plus, they'll need a big bad for next season since they supposedly killed off Lex, and if you ask me, Tess was kind of a dud as a big bad. That said, you are right, Doomsday is more powerful than Zod when it comes to raw power, but it isn't really backed by much thought. Zod is a military general, so likely more dangerous, plus he has access to power that Clark still doesn't, like flight. Maybe that's the only one left really. They kinda bent the "No tights, no flights" credo, but they've been doing a lot more old school "leaps over tall buildings" these past two seasons, which was all the original Superman could do.

Was kinda bewildered by Smallville - it was a fine season ender - but that was too quick of an 'ending' to the Doomsday arc. I'm with you - sealing him in the ground is not a solution.
While watching, I kinda took it that "Jimmy's little brother" is the Jimmy from the comics - with the age difference and all . (found it funny that Chloe never met Jimmy's parents and brother before they got married - "You must be Jimmy's little brother....") And with the fact that they called him Jimmy "Henry James Olsen" at the funeral (is Jimmy Olsen "H.J.C." in the commics? If so, then I guess that bit doesn't matter) Then I later read on EW.com that they promised DC that they'd get "Jimmy Olsen" to the 'right age to the comics continuity'...so that clinched that thought...
Still gets me that with all the DC logos all over the production of this show that they can't say the word "Superman".
Didn't they already do the whole Zod as big bad thing - plus, I thought Doomsday was more powerful than Zod to begin with...
And what's with the whole "Lois to the future" bit? I wonder what's going to become of that? If she goes to the future, wouldn't she learn that Clark is Superman?
