The Office: The Accountants
The first three webisodes for The Office are on-line at nbc.com.
For the most part, the first three are very weak. Kevin (Brian Baumgartner) is the only one that stands out, but that’s probably just because of the group that is involved, he’s the only one I like. I suppose the third one with Meredith (Kate Flannery) is okay, but just because she’s a drunk and who doesn’t love a drunk!
Honestly though, The FedEx Kinkos commercial that precedes each episode is better… so far. Considering I knew it would be the secondary players ahead of time, I probably shouldn’t be disappointed, but I guess I had higher hopes that they’d shine when given the spotlight.
New episode each Thursday, so let’s hope they get better.

As much as I love The Office and have implored people to begin watching – I doubt I’ll check these out. Anything like this usually smacks of marketing and typically the A-list talent (not just actors – in this case, the writers) may not be involved. The supporting cast on The Office is great – a wonderful ensemble – but they need to be backed up by pitch-perfect writing and I have a feeling that this project got passed to an intern to have a go.
The show’s 3rd season premieres in mid-September. Can’t wait.

Well, we are talking only five minutes of your time right now. Each is only 90 seconds long or so, but that said, I agree with you that it is probably mostly a marketing effort than anything else and I too cannot wait for the new season.

I’ve watched the Webisodes, and so far they’re kinda ‘blah’… But you’re right, it’s ’cause they’re using the outside characters, and the first 20 seconds of each 90 second long ‘sode seems to be a re-telling of what it’s all about. Not the best writing…
