Lost heroes

Last night’s episode of Heroes was written by Jeph Loeb. Mr. Loeb is a kick ass comic book writer, but also a former Supervising Producer on Lost.

Anyway, not only did the episode feature a cameo by the main Marvel man, Stan Lee, but this nod to Lost by Nathan Petrelli:

“I’d round us all up. Stick us in a lab on some… island in the middle of the ocean.”

A sly nod to all the island’s inhabitants having power like Desmond?

Lost: Flashes Before Your Eyes

Almost a week later, I have posted my comments on this episode over on Ed’s post at The Ed Zone. I don’t know if it is because of the brain cramp Desmond’s story is causing or the fact that he has the same 25 year-old microwave that I do…

Carl answers ur mobile

Our favorite ATHF next door neighbor could soon be answering your mobile or alerting you to an incoming call.

First, this sounds very cool from a technology perspective, but second, this is going to be friggin fun…

Year in consumables: 2006 music

Empire by KasabianI know that most people like to read year in review stuff at the end of December or early January, but I’m a procrastinator, so mine comes out in February.

This list focuses on the discs released in 2006 that I consumed, but I’ll also post on flicks and games later in the week. Those are nice, short ones that can be done on a school night.

So, my main justification behind waiting a bit is because sometimes, not often, but sometimes a disc comes out at the end of the year and it needs to get its due before you make up a list. I could stick it on the next year’s list, but then that doesn’t feel right, even if I didn’t pick it up until that year. So, I’m going to follow the tradition of ranking them for the year they came out.

Yeah, that’s right… even though the title talks about 2006 consumption, I’m only counting the discs released in 2006, you know… just to confuse... Continue reading »

Man town

Boston.com is running a couple photo galleries on “Man Caves.” In our circle we call it Man Town, but it is the same thing.

The first one is apparently built as part of a DIY show featuring meathead Tony Siragusa. Gotta love the individual recliners in the media room.

The second is of reader submissions. Some of these are outrageous. If any of us ever have anything resembling some of these, the females may never see us again except for when we want some, well… you know… which of course, we wouldn’t get!

So, would it be worth it?

Lost: Not in Portland

Continuing my practice of commenting on Ed’s post with my thoughts about each new episode of Lost, here’s the first of the *Spring season.*

I gotta say, watching it on a larger HD set — I now have a 46″ LCD — is way better than the smaller 27″ HD tube set. Not only do I get a little more real estate, the colors pop way better. That opening scene of Juliet on the beach was beautiful…

Sox tix raffle

Registration is open for the annual raffle process for the opportunity to purchase Monstah, Right Field Roof, Opening Day and Yankee tickets. There’s some question as to whether the registration closes on Monday or Tuesday depending on if the e-mail I got or the reg page is the correct information.

If you win, remember who told you…

Mooninite massacre

Ignignokt and ErrToday Boston’s Finest, in conjunction with the Massachusetts State Police, set about the city destroying any Mooninite they could find.

Someone noticed Err or Ignignokt today after they had been in the wild for two weeks or so. Since this person had no concept of who or what they were, they cried bomb!

“Yes, surely it is a bomb! Look at him flipping me off like that!”

Now, I understand the concern for the public’s safety, but we aren’t talking about an abandoned suitcase or unassuming cardboard box on the street here. We are talking about little signs, magnetically attached to some structure. Okay, so maybe not such a good idea to affix them to bridges, but hey, if you get a good peep at it, doesn’t... Lost series finale

Did anyone else pick up on the throwaway line in this week’s Entertainment Weekly about ABC’s “news of a potential series finale for Lost” in their portion of the recent presentation to the journalists at the Television Critics Association press tour?

Cost too much money? Did the producers run out of ideas on how to keep it going? Thoughts? Rumors?

Mii in real 3D

An interesting item in the Engadget feed today is about some clever artist making a friend’s Mii a reality. Can’t you just see Ed ordering up his family and putting them on the mantle???
