Twenty-six K plow

Making round Gamerscores is going around. Look what I found tonight when I got home:

Gamerscore on 08.17.08

As I said before… Amazing!

Twenty K

I magically hit the 20k gamerscore mark early this morning.

Gamerscore on 08.11.08

Okay, it wasn’t magic at all, but was with a sorta magical game… okay… a game with a small magical component… yeah… anyway, I had just defeated Ninja Gaiden II and was left just 30 points shy of 20k. My choice was simple, but completely ridiculous, get the Mission pack and complete 4 Karma Attack missions for the nice, round 30 I needed. Done and done. (More later on why this was ridiculous.)

Meanwhile, Ed blew past this mark long ago. In fact, that was his goal for the year and he smashed thru it roughly a third of the way in having already added 10k this year alone! He’s going to hit 30k by year end and I’m still going to shoot for my 24k mark.

He might be why I haven’t done one of these in awhile… due to my shame in not keeping pace with the father of two, husband of one, owner of two (might be other way around), full-time office drone and homeowner. I know he sleeps in there somewhere when also not gaming or writing reviews for Avault and posts for The Ed Zone. Amazing.

Viva la vida

Had the pleasure of checking out Coldplay at the Garden this past Monday night. I think that’s worthy of a few short words/thoughts here seeing as how I never go to shows anymore, yeah?

In short, they pwned teh house. Really, really tight show… just… a bit short. They came in at just about 90 minutes. Given they have four stellar albums to pull from, it is a little disappointing, especially what with this being a big arena tour and such. They played pretty much Viva la Vida in its entirety and other than that, a few here and there from the other three discs. Maybe two songs off each? I didn’t jot down a setlist.

The band was tight though and they managed to keep the entire audience in play by moving about the arena a bit. They did a couple short — two song — sets at different locations other than the main stage. One being just in front of the stage on a small, disco floor type platform and the other at one of those handicapped cleared landings between the lower bowl seats and the premium stuff. This was in one of the back corners, so IR... Continue reading »

Missing Manny

Lost Manny (photo by Jim Davis - Boston Globe)

Yeah, I said it. I miss Manny.

I don’t undertand why Manny had to be traded. I really don’t. I know that most of the Nation is glad he is gone, but I must ask… why?

Why would you want to give up one of the greatest righthanded hitters of all time? A first ballot Hall of Famer? The ultimate protection for Big Papi? Pay seven million dollars to the Dodgers just to take him and two prospects to Pittsburgh to get Jason Bay in return?

Okay, Craig Hansen you can have — for now, unless he works out his command — but by all accounts, Brandon Moss was a good, young outfield prospect. Was he going to be next year’s starting left fielder? No, but he’s a quality fourth outfielder. The seven million? Well, ain’t... Continue reading »
