Photography

Posts about my adventures as an amateur photographer. Usually one or two nice photos show up around these parts, but not enough in my opinion… because I’m a lazy photographer.

Halloween cheerleaders

Patriots cheerleaders

As promised last week, here are the cheerleader photos from the Rams and Pats game last October. (I added them to the game set and the larger cheerleader set as well.)

Oh… that’s right, no one seemed to want to look at those photos much. I guess you really are ready for baseball, but seriously, there’s a few good ones there, no? I’m sure all the bro’s think there are some here as well. Pigs.

Hahaha… well, I am doing my best to catch up. I will get the baseball ones up for Opening Day that night. Promise! But, I likely won’t get thru my backlog by then, so you’ll have to suffer thru some Fall... Continue reading »

Ram the cassel gate

Vrabel and Bruschi

I know, I know… it seems stupid to put up photos from a football game with Opening Day just around the corner, but it has been established numerous times that I am running behind on posting to Flickr. So, you get football now and I hope to be caught up by the time baseball starts. That means photos from Opening Day before the Pats open against the Bills in September. Actually, hopefully that means I can get those posted the night of Opening Day. Anyone want to start a pool?

Back to the task at hand, these photos are from the Rams game on October 26, 2008. Matt Cassel getting more comfortable in the line-up, etc. Disappointed that all we saw of Steven Jackson was him walking off the field at halftime wearing sweats since he was injured at the time.... She’s a witch

Peabody Essex Museum

Still posting up some old-ish photos and these are from a walk around Salem “Witch City” Mass for a few hours last October. As most from the area know, October is the month for Salem. It was a couple weekends before Halloween and the place was still jammed. Couldn’t get on a tour or anything. 🙁 Next time, make reservations!

Anyway, I took the time to take some photos anyway, although they aren’t great. I really mean that this time. I had a hard time picking which one to use for the post. A lot of that had to do with the sun going down and such. I’ll see if I can get something better next time I am up there. For now, I figured why not throw something up anyway. Enjoy?

Unlike most of the other sets lately, th... Continue reading »

Flowers on a hill

Beacon Hill

This is the third set of photos I took on a walkabout Boston on Patriots Day 2008. I took in some marathon and walked thru the Boston Public Garden. After that I decided to walk thru Beacon Hill and see what I could get. It was a productive choice and I wish it were earlier in the day for the light.

Anyway, almost all of these photos were taken while I was also talking on the phone. No headset either. My neck probably still hurts from cradling the phone between my cheek and shoulder most of the time. I even made a couple lens changes!

I think my favorite... Continue reading »

Just around the corner

Public Garden

Last time I tortured you with photos of snow so I thought this time I’d torture you with photos of what is mere months away. That’s right, this kind of thing is just around the corner. By corner I mean April.

The same day I trekked into Boston for the 26.2 thing I also walked thru the Boston Public Garden and Beacon Hill before hopping the train back home. The swan boats were already in action and shouts of Aflac rang out across the park. (No swans yet though.)

I split these shots into two sets and the first one has a few photos of the cherry... Continue reading »

Let it snow. Again.

MLK snow

Stop the whining. Just stop. Please.

You live in the Northeast. It is winter. It snows. It has all your life. It will continue to do so for the rest of it. You will have to plow it. Snow-blow it. Shovel it. Drive in it. Deal with it.

Just because we have had a couple mild winters the previous two years didn’t mean it was going away. You just forgot in your old age. Your back got crankier. You got complacent. You didn’t want to buy a new shovel. You forgot how to drive in it. You can now complain about it in your Facebook status.

However, you can also play with your kids in it. Sled on it. Build a snowman with it. Make snowballs of it. Board or ski thru it. Make a snow angel in it. (Unless you are in an NFL game and can’t afford the 10k fine.) Instead of complaining about it, why don’t you have some fun in it?

Me? Continue reading »

Twenty-six point two

Boston Marathon

I am still trying to catch up on posting photos from last year to Flickr and this set is from the Boston Marathon. I went in to the city on a whim that day since I took it off. It was a beautiful spring day, so why not spend it outside and sunburn the half of your face that wasn’t pressed against a camera?

I didn’t get in in time to see/shoot the *elite* runners. I did however catch Lance Armstrong but he was by me by the time I figured that out, so no photos. I also saw Team Hoyt, but only got one of Dick because they were in a bit of a crowd.

There are about 30 photos in the set and I shot 225 total. I tried to pick ones where people were struggling or wearing something funny. I didn’t add many captions, but there... Continue reading »

I resolve

First of the year

[As the sun sets on another year we… hahaha… no really, no heavy reflection here. Besides, that is the first sunset of this new year.]

Last year I wrote a bit about resolutions and never really stated what those were other than to be a better blogger — keep laughing, I am — and to stay in touch with faraway friends a bit better. Well, if you are keeping score, I didn’t do well with either, but probably better with the blogging than the staying in touch. As for the unrevealed ones, much worse. In fact, for one, total and utter failure.

This year, I am going to throw a couple right out there right now and we’ll see what happens. You can maybe help hold me to them. Or maybe you don’t care. Heck, as Juice... Continue reading »

The new uploads of old photos

Local peeping

I admit that I am a lazy photographer. I take them and then I wait and wait and wait to share them. There are two reasons for this. The first is I am lazy. The second is you don’t seem excited to see them. Well, not all of you, but most of you. You know who you are.

Anyway, I went on a jaunt this past Sunday night to capture some new interestingness and figured I’d better get crackin with getting the old up before the new. I was a bit shocked when going thru my photostream that I was missing lot more than I thought. The good news, again, is you weren’t excited for them anyway. Also, you need to be a friend or family contact of mine in Flickr — you need to be logged in too — to even see the majority of those I just uploaded, and in one case, finally titled a... Seventeen

I posted some photos [slideshow] from Saturday’s playoff win against the Jacksonville Jaguars. I took it easy on you and only posted 33, or the just over 400 frames I fired off. That’s a ~55 percent drop off from my last set, so you should have no problem zipping thru them. Right?

Anyway, seventeen and Oh baby! and… yes… I went to the game… I know people.

Not really… but, it is funny how many people wonder just that when you tells them you went to the game.

Well, guess what… I am going again this week and… knock on a lot of wood — how about an everwood tree — and wish me good luck… the Super Bowl. Of course, our source has to win the ticket lottery and oh… the Pats need to get past the Bolts too. He’s been 0-3 so far, so maybe we’ll luck out... Continue reading »
