What About OB1og?

I noticed some visitors have been clicking on some of my neglected navigation links off to the left there, so I decided to bang a couple out tonight. I have added content to the About and Audio pages.

They are pretty fluffy, but what do you expect? It is hard to talk about yourself and do the bio. I think next time I’ll lie some more to make it interesting. I should open up comments on it to see what you flame me with, but my ego can’t take it, so just post those kind of comments on any old post you feel like, even if it is off topic… or this one.

The audio stuff is just my fave Top 10 of the moment, which changes by the moment as I buy new discage, but I’ll try to keep up with it. I’ll also add an all-time Top 10 there and something else I have been thinking of doing. Oh yeah, when I finally get around to typing up that full Generic... Continue reading »

Pearl Jammed

Live at Easy Street album cover

Yesterday, the OB1og got hit pretty good — for me anyway — by a bunch of Pearl Jam fanatics after someone posted links to my two PJ posts on the pearljam.com forums. Seems like those that posted back came away with the idea I hate PJ. What up with that?

So, I registered for the forum so I could post a response, but it took 24 hours to finally get thru moderation, etc. Anyway, read for yourself here…

Also, I’m listening to Live at Easy Street as I type this. This is the disc with the John Doe appearance; it is pretty good and cheap to boot.

Simplified OB1og

Well, I took the feedback you provided to heart and made some adjustments to the blog design. I really like the way this came out, so I hope you do as well.

I more or less eliminated the extra colors and went with the blue and the green. I am going to find it hard to resist changing the green to orange at some point, but I like how the green evokes a Spring feeling, so it will stay for the season. I also changed up the layout by moving that middle column, which was blue, to the right side so that the main content is now in the middle. If you want to see more details, you can check out the Changelog.

Now that this has me feeling okay about the overall look-and-feel, I’ll be going to work adding the other features I have in mind. I’ll also be spending less time coding and more time writing content. Maybe my goal with the previous look was to distract you so much, that you wouldn’t notice how bad the content was. I mean, how many posts can you have about routers?!

So,... Continue reading »

Spring Fresh OB1og

As you noticed right away, the blog looks a lot different. This design is something I whipped up over the weekend. I put away the one I was working on — as cataloged in Walk This World — in favor of something new.

This color scheme may not reflect me very well, but I did want to go for something with Spring-like colors to celebrate the time of year. In fact, it’s very Eastery too. The other stuff I had going on was a bit dark and not quite right, maybe better for Winter, so it could make an appearance then.

You may notice that there’s a lot of coming soon kind of stuff going on. I hope to have that stuff available soon-ish. Having this out there will drive me to keep working on that instead of fussing over color palette’s and pixel placements.

Hopefully I can live with this for a little while. I’ll tell you it already reminds me of a Crate and Barrel catalog. I dunno if that’s good or bad. I guess you’ll... Continue reading »

Walk This World

Time to have fun. Time to feel pain. Time to meet the World. Hello World!

Hello World symbolizes a first step in a new environment and geeks the world ‘round use it. WordPress starts every new blog off with it, so how can I resist putting my own spin on it as I Walk This (New) World?

Walk This World is a song by Heather Nova and I thought it a more appropriate title for my first post in the Blogosphere. Certainly has a better ring to it than Hello World, yeah?

I can see I am already losing my fledgling readership — all eleven of you — so I’d better get to the point, which is to say, I haven’t one. Yup, this is a mind dump of pure rubbish. You see, like most blogs, I’m not entirely sure this one will have a point either.

I am no writer. I don’t want to be a writer. I don’t t... Continue reading »
