Television
Posts about the crap I watch on the telly. At least it is the fake, scripted kind and not the reality, scripted kind.
Happy Halloween
Nothing like posting a Happy Halloween post about an hour before the day is over, but that’s just the way it goes sometimes. If I wasn’t a major sleepaholic or I was a major slacker at work, I could have either gotten up earlier this morning and posted or posted while at work, but since I am and I am not, you get this now.
Makes perfect sense, right? You better read that again…
Anyway, I wanted to post a photo of my Halloween costume this year because I was so happy to have had one in a while. Okay, so that is a lie. You can see my last one from 2003, which is or isn’t a while, over on Ed’s blog (he was Tom Hanks from Castaway again, which is still a kick ass costume three years later). I don’t know if I can consider me as Affleck a costume since he seems indicate I dressed as... Continue reading »
Eddie Izzard off 24
It sucked to read in last week’s Entertainment Weekly that Eddie Izzard won’t be appearing on 24 this season after all. I’m not so sure I’ll be able to force myself to watch it this season. I guess I’ll still try it out, but I bet I don’t last more than five episodes before dropping it. That was my M.O. the first three seasons, so I don’t see how it could change with this news.
Yes, I am one of those people that doesn’t dig 24 despite how many people tell me how much it rocks. Get over it. I also don’t like House or Prison Break either.
You know what? I just don’t like Fox shows I guess…
Heroes: Hiro’s
Well, after sitting on two flights of six and five — the jetstream kicks ass! — hours for my trip to and fro Cali, I sure do wish I had Nathan’s power of flight. That evil, corrupt bastard sure can move like a mothafu… you get the point.
His power is a lot more impressive than what we’ve seen before. He shot straight up and turned on a dime to leave a vapor shockwave and boom, which indicates breaking the speed of sound from a standstill. However, he can still hurt his feeties when he lands, so something is protecting him while moving at speed or the air friction would shred his skin away.
Yeah, I know, this is deeper than I need to go with this, but I do read comics.
You have to wonder what his range is though as... Continue reading »
Tellyman 10.3
I am quite a few days late with this, but my excuse is I didn’t want to be a total dork and blog on my *vacation.* I guess I could have blogged this stuff on Monday or Tuesday, since technically, they were work days, but I figured I would rather get out into the city and do my best to get mugged or something. It didn’t happen.
I did meet a real nice girl in the Red Light District though. She was tall and had a deep voice and a hint of five o’clock shadow under her caked on foundation. Wait a minute, did I say RLD? I meant Ghirardelli Square. She was working the candy checkout counter. I suspect she was a he, but she/he/it sure did look purrdy from a distance. I’m not even kidding.
Well, on to the regular scheduled programming. I actually caught up on my flight out to Oakland by watching the previous night’s Earl, Office and Smallville on my iPod. It worked out pretty well, except I think I sca... Continue reading »
A.T.H.F.
All you need to do for me is tune into Cartoon Network [adult swim] this Sunday night at 10.30 pm EDT to watch the season premiere of Aqua Teen Hunger Force. It will take 15 minutes of your life, but it will be worth it. Trust me.
Need more convincing?
Okay, the first episode is titled “Dickesode” and the second one next week is named “Hand Banana.” If you find either of those titles offensive, then you need to watch and get over yourself.
Heroes: Collision
Since this is two weeks in a row, maybe I should just plan on getting this out on Wednesday night and if I should have it done on Tuesday night, bonus for you. Before I jump in to my thoughts on the episode, make sure you check out this week’s mini-comic, from which the image above is borrowed. I happened to accidentally click on the first panel and lo and behold, a Claire Bennet MySpace page loads up. Has Google bought it yet?
I have watched this episode twice and it turns out I didn’t really need to do it, but it was still enjoyable the second time around. Speaking of which, and this is the last aside,... Continue reading »
Tellyman 10.2
It was a rough week for television viewing for me. While I was able to watch everything, it was only thanks to Media Center dutifully fulfilling its, err… duties. I had to work late pretty much every night this week, so I was playing catch up all week and now that I am caught up, I can bore you with my thoughts.
This week’s How I Met Your Mother was weak, until the end. The end made it worth it because you thought for the entire episode that Ted Moesby, Architect was dogging Robin after their first fight. Barney started off the episode by telling Ted that he should advertise the fact that he is an architect since chicks think it is hot. Ted tests it out by chatting up a girl at the bar and Barney is actually right. The episode then follows Ted, Marshall and this girl for the rest of the night with Robin and Lily hot on their trail.
Come to find out at the end that it was Barne... Continue reading »
Heroes: One Giant Leap
Since it is getting closer to Halloween, I thought I might run a screencap of Claire lying on the autopsy slab, but I thought better of it. What a way to end an episode, but this mini-comic panel compliments my current coloring better.
This third episode was written by Jeph Loeb, who happens to be one of my favorite comics writers. Loeb is a current supervising producer on the show and has served as a producer in some capacity on Smallville and Lost in the past. All three shows are in my must-see list.
I watched the episode pretty late last night, so I may not have caught everything, but I wanted to post soon so I could hopefully get some commentsation going before deciding if I need to watch it again (okay, so by the time I finished writing this, I had watched it ... Continue reading »
Heroes: Don’t Look Back
So, as I said in my latest Tellyman post, I am going to try my hand at standalone posts of Heroes much like Ed does for 24 and Lost. Since there is a lot more thinking going on for all three of these shows, it makes sense to do something like this. My hope is you guys will want to engage in conversation about your thoughts about each show as well. If not, then this will just be my thoughts and we’ll see how right or wrong I am. Fair warning though, I don’t read message boards about shows, so if you do, please cop to it when you post your comments… or not. I’m not your English professor…
I blurbed about the pilot episode in Tellyman: Week Two and that’s about all that was really ... Continue reading »
Tellyman 10.1
At the start of this, it wasn’t necessarily my intention to do this as an ongoing series under the heading of “Tellyman,” but it would seem to have stuck. I was going to change up titles on a post-by-post basis, but since Ed also came up with “Tele Mundo,” and I got nothing else, I’m going to stick with “Tellyman.” I’ll adjust to use my month-dot-week nomenclature like “Fanboy Fodder” since during repeats, I may not post. I do find it odd that we both thought up the same name though. Spooky…
Week three of the new television season is complete and three shows made their way into my schedule. Kidnapped made its exit due to cancellation, or at least the news that it would not continue past its original 13 episode order. I wasn... Continue reading »
