Classy Jim on The Office

Scrubs and Lost are back but Chuck was lost. I think next week there is no new Big Bang Theory. What’s up with not having new shows every week during sweeps? I don’t understand. Also, that Better Off Ted show with the cushy spot between Scrubs and Lost started this week. It looks like I will watch it by default.

Big Bang Theory: The nerd herd makes barrettes for Penny’s new business adventure. Oh, and apparently a terrible web site. They should have maybe contracted out to me, but then, I don’t do contract work. Anyway, the episode was kinda blah until Sheldon closed it out zooming around in his Flash uniform. That scored back many points. Zoom zoom zoom!

How I Met Your Mother: I have to agree with Jason here, I am glad that Laura Prepon is already goners. Could they have made her more annoying? I know that was the point, but I real... Continue reading »

Tracy Jordan on St. Patricks Day in 30 Rock

I am writing this one up before the week is over but I plan on watching Tracy Morgan host SNL tonight. I haven’t watched one in years(!), but he’s been such a laugh on 30 Rock I can’t help but not check it out. Especially after I didn’t watch when Alec Baldwin hosted a few weeks ago. Have you seen the Wii sketch from that one? You should. I also might check out Kings if I have nothing doing on Sunday night. They posted a bunch of positive buzzy quotes during commercials and Entertainment Weekly suggests it is worth checking out. I don’t know though, I don’t really want to watch MORE shows. I really need to watch less!

That said, I did miss watching Lost in the middle of my week. That’s been something to look forward to at the start of each week. Well, here’s what I did get to watch:

Chuck: The super spy Brit doesn’t get Sarah. Phew. Chuck and Sarah individually reaffirm feelin... Continue reading »

It was an even fuller week than I expected due to the return of Rules of Engagement and Reaper. I watch Rules like I watch Gary Unmarried, it is usually funny enough and it is also good to have a nice half hour of easy comedy to which you can eat your dinner. I likely won’t write much about it after this week and pretty much treat it the same as Gary, which is to not write about it…

Also, I did avoid watching Trust Me this week and I am fine with letting that one go. Will Tom Cavanagh ever get a good regular gig again? Love Monkey was good, so of course it was canned.

Anyway, here’s what I did watch!

Chuck: So, now let’s introduce another romantic rival into the mix for Chuck, but this time instead of him being his thought-to-be-dead-best-friend it is a British super spy. Well, obviously I am not buying it. I’m sure Sarah is interested because it is a fling she can have, much like Chuck with his Ex, but they’ll be back pining for each other in no time. Probably after the next episode. Liked the plumbing double entendre’... Continue reading »

Flixd: one

I think I have dropped notice here or there that I planned on doing something with all this movie watching activity. Well, this is it and I am going to keep it super simple. The name of the flick, a rating and a sentence or three about it. That’s it. No review, but maybe a recommendation. The rating should handle that, no?

So, I figure I will do this monthly or maybe every two months depending on how many movies I get thru at a time. Television is coming back off repeats so I expect the March activity to slow down a bit, plus I may actually start playing a video game again once and a while. I have enough now to do two for the first two months of this year.

As a bonus though, I am throwing in some of the movies I streamed with Netflix to the Xbox 360. This ability was released in November and it is pretty much going to be the future once the streaming HD gets better. Oh, and the amount of selections in the library. I actually trimmed this list slightly because some of it was mindless garbage you might watch... Continue reading »

Wow… twenty weeks of telly so far this year. Of course, that’s not a totally accurate count of the weeks in the season so far. Just the weeks that had something new on for me to watch. Speaking of that, this week didn’t start so well with Chuck and How I Met Your Mother not being on because of the Obama presser. I didn’t even get home in time to watch any more than the last five minutes. I’m sure I can find it easy enough in the tubes, but I don’t want to hear him say “Um” much more. He should probably work on that.

Big Bang Theory: They smartly tucked this one in after that Charlie Sheen show, so yay! for saving my Monday night. Christine Baranski was awesome as Leonard’s mom. She actually managed to get her son further along the bases than he could himself. Of course, he blew his chance. The Sheldon interaction with Leonard’s mom was the highlight. I guess singing some Rock Band together was their substitute for sex because surely they would have had it had either had any interest in it, which has (and was) establi... Continue reading »

Weekly schedule is getting pretty full. Time to trim some fat again? Maybe.

Chuck: I don’t think I have ever seen anything in 3D that impressed me. Ever. I am guessing I am not the only one either. To me, in order to pull it off at all, things are added or adjusted to accommodate the gimmick, so it not only looks bad, it is bad. Now, I didn’t have any 3D glasses to watch with, so I had to endure the episode with a lot of RGB fuzz/halo around different people and objects throughout. It might not have been as bothersome in standard definition, but in high definition it was very annoying. I wish they’d just let this alone. As for the story, well it wasn’t a great one. I thought they just blew over explanation from Sarah about killing the Fulcrum dude so much that it didn’t seem important at all. It seemed like it was going to be to Chuck, but maybe not much past 44 minutes. I think it is clear that Dominic Monaghan can only play two characters: a rocker and a hobbit. I suggest he stick with the second one. Also, this guy is an uggo. I don’t un... Continue reading »

No introduction this week.

Trust Me: I figured I would check out this new show on TNT since it features Tom Cavanagh. I recently copped to having a man crush on him, behind Zach Braff of course. Anyway, he and Eric McCormack play buddies in advertising. Monica Potter is along for eye candy. The guy on Life on Mars was their boss and bites it in the pilot/first ep. McCormack gets his job and Cavanagh is mad. They make up by show’s end. Standard pilot/intro stuff, but this might be a good dramedy. I will give it my usual three episode tryout.

Scrubs: Sesame Street daydreams? Brilliant! Elmo and Grover were awesome. Oscar was only good for being paired with Janitor. I am liking the Jo intern best out of the three, but Ed started to win me over a little bit with this one (was he in both eps?). Can’t wait to see Cox tormented as the man. The Jordan/Kelso showdown was classic and disturbing. J.D.’s beard needs to go. Everytime I see it I realize how stupid I look when I haven’t shaved all week. (Reminder to self… again: shave twice a week.)Continue reading »

Yay for the return of Lost! Boo for worms at work!

I had a long four day work week and had to catch up on a lot of telly over the weekend. Unfortunately that included Lost and Friday Night Lights. I really need the HD DVR because watching both of those in standard def is painful. Painful!

No Scrubs because of some inauguration or history or something. Feh.

Big Bang Theory: Sheldon tries to make a new friend. Best part was him making friends with a little girl in the kiddie book section and Leonard pulling him out of there before he was labeled an unintentional sex offender/pedophile. Other than that, kinda weak.

HIMYM: Ted and Barney’s bar and Marshall and Lily’s weird rituals. Well, I can appreciate the gift of beer, so good on Lily for that one. Why didn’t we get to see what happened when the bar owner found the place trashed? Thought this one was a letdown from last week.

Lost: As usual, my comments/thoughts are over on Ed’s post at The Ed Zone. Juliet wins. You kno... Continue reading »

The week started off with a Big Bang. That would be me punching the desk because the computer decided to shut itself down last Monday. That meant it wasn’t up and running to record The Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother. (See what I did there?) I figured I’d be able to catch them later on cbs.com or tv.com, but I was only half right. No Big Bang full episodes there and it feels dirty to search the torrents. So, I missed one of my favorite shows this week, but the nerdgasm of The Legion showing up on Smallville made up for it. I am getting ahead of myself.

How I Met Your Mother: A full episode dedicated to *reading a magazine* and friends with benefits. Dare I say this episode got the show back on track a little more for me? I do dare. Of course, when you are work, you don’t read a magazine, you surf the web on your mobile or Crackberry. Am I right? The reality stars come to life on the magazine cover were awesome. Even if one scene was Heidi and Spencer.

Scrubs: And just like that, Courteney Cox is out of there. She’s got a new show for... Continue reading »

Lucky week 13, which was like two weeks ago, but that Festivus holiday had its way with my time. This post includes weeks 12 and 13 since 13 only had my Monday and Tuesday shows at the start of the week.

Chuck (w.12): Sarah’s confidence man daddy shows up played by none other than Gary Cole. No TPS reports. Anyway, the team somehow pulls off a con on some sheik/prince and then goes to heck and then the team decides to save daddy from going to the klink even though he double crossed everyone. Something about a DeLorean and the General Lee too, but kinda just Morgan related noise.

Chuck (w.13): Best guest appearance ever! Sergeant Al Powell is back on the job Christmas Eve at a hostage situation in the Burbank BuyMore. Twinkies still in hand. Turns out Big Al is Big Mike’s cousin. Oh, and Sarah basically executes a Fulcrum agent to protect Chuck, but he doesn’t know why she does this and it just leaves you hanging with something until the series starts back up in January. Of course they used the time previous in the episode to draw the two back together som... Continue reading »
