Color and texture

Blue Hills sunset

Or just a fancy title for some shots of two sunsets — view full post and scroll down for slide shows — taken the first weekend of last November. I happened to have the time to go up to Granite Links both nights to watch and shoot the the sunsets and both were spectacular in their own ways. I also tried to shoot some leaves, but it was a bit too dark for all that and I don’t like the ISO boosted ones that did grab.

The first sunset on Saturday had a lot of different layers and colors as the clouds moved in from the west, but not so many as to totally block the sun down to the horizon. If you like the different colors as they progress or looking at the many different textures in the clouds, then this one is for you. Black, gray, blue, yellow, orange and red. A lot going on here.

The second sunset on the Sunday was... Continue reading »

I think this is the second week we’ve had with a hiatus on Lost in favor of some *special* and that really ruins the week for me. I look forward to Lost every week because it is smack dab in the middle and it is always there. Except when it’s not. That’s not to say I don’t understand why this happens. ABC wants the season to end on a specific week for ratings purposes and they need to keep their casual viewers up to speed. You know, those that don’t read The Ed Zone.

Semi-rant over. Back to regularly scheduled content.

No wait, I have another rant to get out of the way as it pertains to my first show of the week. That genius running WHDH makes another blunder — just in my book, but not as big as the Leno thing — by running over the start of a network show and then joining it in progress. Now, I don’t know if other stations did the same “Breaking News” coverage of the arrest of the alleged Craigslist idiot, but this channel did and it ran over the s... Continue reading »

Anyone else want to water board the announcer guy at the start and end of shows on NBC? Anyone?

Chuck: I watched this show sorta in reverse. I got home halfway thru and just watched the rest of it on HD and then went back to see the beginning. It really didn’t seem to matter. The stuff at the Buy More was lame, mainly because they don’t seem to realize that Tony Hale just is not funny in this role. (The ending with Big Mike giving Morgan the fish was good.) As for bringing back Jill (Jordana Brewster) as a means to helping find where Fulcrum is holding Chuck’s dad, well it seemed pointless, but also annoying as this was probably a one-and-done appearance (to pub Fast and Furious?). Again, the ending was good with Sarah going rogue with Chuck. This next episode looks better.

Big Bang Theory: “Anything can happen Thursdays” seem like a good idea for this crew, but for me, I am camped in front of my television. OMG… these nerds have a better life than me. Anyway, Penny going on a date with the comic book store guy was funny, especially... Continue reading »

Peeped

Fall foliage

…like a loooong time ago at this point.

Yes, I am sharing old photos again and getting that much closer to being caught up. Two more sets after this one, which is of some leaves that I peeped locally — as in mostly my yard or down the street — this past Fall. This is a small set of 27 photos (view the slide show at bottom of this post), so quick to check out if you are a fan of my favorite season of the year (my second being the one we just started).

If you get to the end of the slide show (or set) you’ll have a hint of what to expect next, but much better. (I included here because I got those the same day as some of the leaves.) After that though, I think you will be very impressed. Or not.

I’m... Continue reading »

Do we really need more cop shows on television? Is every hour long show going to become a crime or medical drama? Oh, besides Lost, Dollhouse and Fringe and that… okay is every hour long show going to become a crime, medical or mystery drama? Oh… wait… then there is reality… when did this happen? It has always been like this, hasn’t it… damn. It took a horrible show like The Unusuals to make me realize this.

Chuck: So, Scott Bakula is Chuck’s dad, but also… wait for it… Orion. Can’t say I saw that one coming. I’m pretty sure this is all that happened. Besides, you know, Arnold Vosloo playing another character that seemingly cannot be killed.

Reaper: I fast forwarded thru about half of this one. I feel like this year hasn’t had me like last year did. Sock did seal the deal with his stepsister, so good for him and kinda gross for us? I still can’t make up my mind on how I feel about this thing. I guess it does have me talking about the show, but also fast forwarding thru it too. Also, the Sam a... Continue reading »

Flixd: three

Last month I threw out there that I had already watched a bunch of chick flicks for this month. It was only five days in too. Well, the trend continued and no, I am not copping to all the ones I watched, but I will cop to all the d!ck flicks — thanks for that term Ed — that I watched to try and balance things out. If anyone wants to try and formulate a theory for why I like chick flicks so much, feel free, but be forewarned that any comments to the effect of me being gay will be ignored. (Even though you might be correct.)

Remember the rules here; a few thoughts and a rating. Nothing more.

Eagle Eye As I mentioned in the comments of Ed’s post about this movie, I too had a line about WOPR planned for this one but he beat me to the punch. You should watch this movie and then maybe read my comments about it there. Don̵... Continue reading »

Opening day

National anthem

Mission accomplished! Photos uploaded in a timely manner. There are a lot of them. Seventy to be exact. Your best bet is to open this post and view the slide show. View it in full screen too. Please check these out. I took them for you.

So, I had to see for myself what the difference was between Opening Day and a regular game. I had the opportunity to grab a single ticket for the game when I was selected for the second chance lottery for Opening Day and Yankee tickets. Only single seats were available and it seemed like all of the Yankee games were obstructed view. I said screw it and opted to go it alone so I could finally experience an opener.

Now, I’ve seen a lot of the same pomp and circumstance before since I have gone to a 4th of July... Continue reading »

I’m not gonna lie… it felt weird to not have a new Office or 30 Rock this week. I feel like my Facebook status was sad because it couldn’t be filled with a good line last Thursday night. Looks like NBC will make up for it by giving us two episodes of The Office this week so they can make a nice Parks and Recreation sandwich.

Chuck: I forgot to applaud the Brian K. Vaughan shoutout in last week’s epsiode. Chuck was using an issue or trade of Ex Machina to hide his reading of the Intersect plans provided by Orion. This week he was at it again, but there was also a Y: The Last Man poster on the wall behind him. Oh, and then also a Camel (Programming Perl) book. Um… oh, so all that nerdery aside, Tricia Helfer appears as an agent trying to give Sarah the boot. She was pretty good I guess, but in the end, Sarah and Chuck prove they are better off together than apart. This next one should be good with Chevy Chase and Scott Bakula.

Big Bang Theory: Another building hotty moves in upstairs from the boys and Penny feels the pain. It was actually nice to... Continue reading »

Halloween cheerleaders

Patriots cheerleaders

As promised last week, here are the cheerleader photos from the Rams and Pats game last October. (I added them to the game set and the larger cheerleader set as well.)

Oh… that’s right, no one seemed to want to look at those photos much. I guess you really are ready for baseball, but seriously, there’s a few good ones there, no? I’m sure all the bro’s think there are some here as well. Pigs.

Hahaha… well, I am doing my best to catch up. I will get the baseball ones up for Opening Day that night. Promise! But, I likely won’t get thru my backlog by then, so you’ll have to suffer thru some Fall... Continue reading »
