Twelve K

Well, Halo 3 has vaulted both Ed and I over the 12k Gamerscore mark almost three months earlier than our goal. I’m glad I was able to make it given I had no 360 for a month. Pretty cool.

Gamerscore on 10.12.2007

Ed, Jason and I completed the Halo 3 campaign cooperatively on Legendary this past Thursday night. That had me 40 points away from 12k and I picked up the Marathon Man achievement for exactly 40 on Friday. We have now moved on to playing the campaign again with the meta/scoring turned on to complete those achievements.

Shocking

What a weekend!

(Now, what a week too!)

I started writing this post on Monday night, but I got sidetracked by one of the topics, which I will get to in a minute. Funny thing about the post was everything (five things) revolves around the word shock, hence the title shocking. I find it even funnier that an event happened on Tuesday to add a sixth, so the word of the month is now shocking. Anyway, I’m trimming some of the fat since I have more to add on…

I was going to talk further about the Pat’s spying scandal because some of the other information that came out during the weekend (losing draft pick(s)?!, leak of tape, even more penalties if Belichick doesn’t turn over all data), but there is just too much and I am just too sick of it all. Now, don’t we have the Mangenius being accused of something by the Ravens? Oh, and can we stop referring to every scandal as a “Gate”? It was just Watergate. Let it go already! Anyway, I’ll just leave this one as disappointing on many angles, but particularly because it tarnishes,... Continue reading »

Bird and bee

Because there’s just one of each.

I posted some new photos, which I referred to in my last post about photos. I went back for more photos of the flowers in my Mom’s yard and ended up with some bonus bird photos. She routinely has an excellent variety of birds in her yard around dinner time, which is apparently the same for you and them. (Not so much me as I eat late.)  One of these days I’ll get some photos of the cardinals that come to feed. It is all about patience and time, but that’s true for a lot of photography I guess.

Anyway, I almost got some of two hummingbirds flitting about the yard, but they weren’t stopping anywhere convenient. I almost mistook the first one for a big dragonfly! Her hummingbird feeder wasn’t yet up, but it is now, so maybe I’ll luck into some, but the season is getting pretty late.

So, the new photos are spread across the Flowers 2007 and new Wild things sets. You might be better off viewing by date though. If you can identify the flower, leave a comment on it.

Feeling unpatriotic

Now that I am done feeling patriotic, it is time to express my unpatriotic feelings.

Oh, don’t worry, this is directed towards the New England Patriots. In fact, my patriotic feelings were originally a tangent within this post, but I busted them out on their own, where they belong. Also, I got down this path both because of the news, but also because Jason posted about both the Pats and 9/11 today, so read them.

Even without all this prompting, I already wanted to comment on the Rodney Harrison/HGH thing, but had been delaying it to see how things went this past Sunday. Yesterday we thought they just creamed the J-E-T-S, but today the NFL thinks it was less game plan and... Continue reading »

Feeling patriotic

I feel like I am an everyday patriot, but I am not sure what that really means.

I am mindful of our democracy and all that brings us. I am sorry for those everyday folks and heroes that lost their lives six years ago. I am sorry for the families left behind.

I appreciate our troops for serving our country and putting themselves in harm’s way. I am sorry that I don’t agree with the cause that is costing some of them their lives. I am sorry that I will not go into detail on why I don’t agree.

I am not a political person and I don’t want to play one on these interwebs. In fact, I started rambling on about it not being worth saving a buck on gasoline and why does W feel the need to make up for his daddy’s mistake? Yeah, I started down that path and I just deleted it out of here.

It doesn’t matter.

What does matter is that I remember what happened six years ago.

I remember almost everything about that day and how I felt. The initial shock of hearing what happened just as I got into work in Boston after getting... Continue reading »

No pending repair

OMFG! My patience with Microsoft is being tested to its fullest now.

I logged into their wonderful support site tonight to check on the status of my brick and it states that I have “No pending repair.” Really?

It used to say something like “Received at facility” or some other such thing last week. Now I have to get on the horn and b!tch someone out I think.

I’ll give them until tomorrow to sort it out. I’m sure it is just another glitch in their carefully thought out site

Broomed

Sweeping out another month here. I started off stronger this month, but again, fell off with the posting. This was going to be a Sox-centric post, but let’s get some catching up out the way first since it has been two weeks since my last post.

Well, over those last two weeks, I have had to do a good amount of writing at work, so that saps my will to write here. While I don’t mind the occasional need to write a piece of technical documentation, mostly because I’m good at it, I must give kudos to the full-time technical writers out there. I don’t know how you don’t just drink yourselves into oblivion in preparation for work each day. Oh, wait… you probably do.

Anyway, today I had to update my appraisal/review form with my six month results towards my objectives. That’s fun. Especially since we’re really doing eighth month results… and, why am I writing this myself again? I’m sorry, but if I am a manager, there’s no way I have my folks doing this themselves. It is time better spent on their job and something... Continue reading »

Orange fluff

I have been lazy with the writing lately, so more on that in the next post, but I also feel like I’m in a rut in taking photos only at Sox games. With my first Pats game just over two weeks away, I need to get some other photos out there, so I have been better about trying to take photos of other stuff. Now, since I don’t live in the city, that is tough. It leaves me with flowers and sunsets. Grrrl photos.

Well, I have even more! I took a couple different sunsets over the past couple/few weeks and this is the first. I have added these new photos to my Sunsets set on flickr. I’ll leave it to you to check the “date taken” to figure out the new ones, but as of now, there are eight in total at the start of the set. Or, I guess you could view by date instead. Whatever works for you.

More to come.

Clay pitcher

I had the pleasure of attending the first game of yesterday’s doubleheader to see Clay Buchholz make his major league debut. That makes two in two years as I got to see Jon Lester’s last year.

Unfortunately I missed the start of the game after just missing a Red Line train and then having some ticket pick-up issues. Joe joined me for the game after Ed had to bail on me due to some work mumbo-baloney. I told him instead of getting comp’d an extra day off, he needs to get comp’d some Sox or Pats tix. I think it was the third time we tried to hook up for a game with no joy. Oh wells.

Buchholz looked pretty good and pretty young. I mean like twelve years old young. Kid looks 140 pounds soaking wet if he’s lucky and has he started shaving yet? He’s so thin he could take Casey Fossum’s old nickname: The Blade. Anyway, he was helped out by the Sox offense having... Continue reading »

Another one

Well, I only had one taker again this year and it was the same person as last year. So, I went ahead and put in the same donation as last year as well.

I don’t know if I can blame this on a short notice with my posting or the fact that no one seems to be reading the OB1og much these days. I’m sure this is my fault for being lazy over the Summer and I suppose also because when I do write, it isn’t of much interest to more than a few people. I’m fine with that by the way.

I’ll be optimistic and say I’ll get three people next year!
