Tracy thru Kenneth's eyes

No Big Bang this week and I still don’t get what’s up with that. CBS showed the new How I Met Your Mother in that spot and followed it with a HIMYM repeat. Why? It wasn’t a special episode or anything. Stupid Sweeps! Of course now that they are over we’ll get some repeats sprinkled into April before the big May finish. We are also getting some new shows like Parks & Recreation (next week?) and returning shows like Aqua Teen Hunger Force and My Boys (both starting this week).

In fact, My Boys is the funniest show you aren’t watching. I pimp it every year it starts back up and you don’t listen. Tuesday at 10.30. Check it out. Seriously.

Okay, on with this past week of telly:

Chuck: That was fast. Orion finds Chuck instead of the other way around and then ends up dead by the end of the episode? He took himself out in a cool way, but still. I guess he did leave Chuck with some help and that’s enough to keep it go... Continue reading »

Ram the cassel gate

Vrabel and Bruschi

I know, I know… it seems stupid to put up photos from a football game with Opening Day just around the corner, but it has been established numerous times that I am running behind on posting to Flickr. So, you get football now and I hope to be caught up by the time baseball starts. That means photos from Opening Day before the Pats open against the Bills in September. Actually, hopefully that means I can get those posted the night of Opening Day. Anyone want to start a pool?

Back to the task at hand, these photos are from the Rams game on October 26, 2008. Matt Cassel getting more comfortable in the line-up, etc. Disappointed that all we saw of Steven Jackson was him walking off the field at halftime wearing sweats since he was injured at the time.... Classy Jim on The Office

Scrubs and Lost are back but Chuck was lost. I think next week there is no new Big Bang Theory. What’s up with not having new shows every week during sweeps? I don’t understand. Also, that Better Off Ted show with the cushy spot between Scrubs and Lost started this week. It looks like I will watch it by default.

Big Bang Theory: The nerd herd makes barrettes for Penny’s new business adventure. Oh, and apparently a terrible web site. They should have maybe contracted out to me, but then, I don’t do contract work. Anyway, the episode was kinda blah until Sheldon closed it out zooming around in his Flash uniform. That scored back many points. Zoom zoom zoom!

How I Met Your Mother: I have to agree with Jason here, I am glad that Laura Prepon is already goners. Could they have made her more annoying? I know that was the point, but I real... Continue reading »

Watchmen

Watchmen movie posterViolence, sex, superheroes and a tricky d!ck. I knew to expect all of those things going into this film based on the epic mini-series turned graphic novel by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. I knew that director Zack Snyder was going to play it very faithful to the original work except for a change to the ending.

I knew all of this going in, but I still left the theater blown away.

Before I continue further, I am not really concerned about spoilers, but I won’t give away any twists either. I will talk about the end, but in fairly general terms. Just beware I guess.

Now, I haven’t read — but should read — Frank Miller’s graphic novel 300 upon which Zack Snyder’s previous film of the same name — duh, you probably heard of it — was based. I had heard that that film was also faithful, almost to a fault. (Or was that Sin... Continue reading »

Tracy Jordan on St. Patricks Day in 30 Rock

I am writing this one up before the week is over but I plan on watching Tracy Morgan host SNL tonight. I haven’t watched one in years(!), but he’s been such a laugh on 30 Rock I can’t help but not check it out. Especially after I didn’t watch when Alec Baldwin hosted a few weeks ago. Have you seen the Wii sketch from that one? You should. I also might check out Kings if I have nothing doing on Sunday night. They posted a bunch of positive buzzy quotes during commercials and Entertainment Weekly suggests it is worth checking out. I don’t know though, I don’t really want to watch MORE shows. I really need to watch less!

That said, I did miss watching Lost in the middle of my week. That’s been something to look forward to at the start of each week. Well, here’s what I did get to watch:

Chuck: The super spy Brit doesn’t get Sarah. Phew. Chuck and Sarah individually reaffirm feelin... Continue reading »

It was an even fuller week than I expected due to the return of Rules of Engagement and Reaper. I watch Rules like I watch Gary Unmarried, it is usually funny enough and it is also good to have a nice half hour of easy comedy to which you can eat your dinner. I likely won’t write much about it after this week and pretty much treat it the same as Gary, which is to not write about it…

Also, I did avoid watching Trust Me this week and I am fine with letting that one go. Will Tom Cavanagh ever get a good regular gig again? Love Monkey was good, so of course it was canned.

Anyway, here’s what I did watch!

Chuck: So, now let’s introduce another romantic rival into the mix for Chuck, but this time instead of him being his thought-to-be-dead-best-friend it is a British super spy. Well, obviously I am not buying it. I’m sure Sarah is interested because it is a fling she can have, much like Chuck with his Ex, but they’ll be back pining for each other in no time. Probably after the next episode. Liked the plumbing double entendre’... Continue reading »

Flixd: two

Not a lot to do as an intro here because I just posted a good one earlier this week. You should check that out if you missed it.

Okay, you are either back or just interested in this post, so here are the flicks I watched in February:

Zack and Miri Make a Porno
I thought I heard this movie didn’t have a lot of nudity in it, but I guess that was just from the leads because there was a lot of it and even more over-the-top vulgar humor than you might expect from Kevin Smith. Elizabeth Banks, Seth Rogan and Craig Robinson were all great though. Just watch out for full frontal Jason Mewes at the end of the movie; I didn’t need to see that. Continue reading »

Flixd: one

I think I have dropped notice here or there that I planned on doing something with all this movie watching activity. Well, this is it and I am going to keep it super simple. The name of the flick, a rating and a sentence or three about it. That’s it. No review, but maybe a recommendation. The rating should handle that, no?

So, I figure I will do this monthly or maybe every two months depending on how many movies I get thru at a time. Television is coming back off repeats so I expect the March activity to slow down a bit, plus I may actually start playing a video game again once and a while. I have enough now to do two for the first two months of this year.

As a bonus though, I am throwing in some of the movies I streamed with Netflix to the Xbox 360. This ability was released in November and it is pretty much going to be the future once the streaming HD gets better. Oh, and the amount of selections in the library. I actually trimmed this list slightly because some of it was mindless garbage you might watch... Continue reading »

Telefizzled w.22

With the Nielsen sweeps starting this month, the schedule is going to fill out again, but for this week, just five shows. Let’s get on with it.

Chuck: More beatdowns of Morgan. I love it. Of course, it didn’t last long, but it was very funny when Chuck sprayed him with the nitrous oxide breath spray. Funnier because I didn’t see the setup of that part from the show opening. (I got home a little late.) Jeffster was about as lame as you could ask for, so therefore, awesome! Chuck didn’t get blowned up and he and Sarah do their little dance for us. Sigh.

Lost: I can never decide if I am a fan of John Locke or not, kinda like Sawyer, but overall, this one felt a little flat to me. I slapped up some comments over on Ed’s post. Very little to choose from this week, so I guess I have to go with house-mom Kate.

30 Rock: This one was all about Tracy. Sure, the Lemon and Kenneth quest to retrieve her phone with... Continue reading »
