Television
Posts about the crap I watch on the telly. At least it is the fake, scripted kind and not the reality, scripted kind.
ATHF: Redickulous
Shake killing pets in the microwave. Carl using a device that, um… well, we won’t get into the stuff around Carl. It was enough that I don’t care to put the words here. Episode seemed like a mash-up. Two ideas smashed together. Badly. I really think I am done here. I’ll watch this week’s since it involves furries, and they are just so weird.
Lost: Confirmed Dead
So far, so good. Left my comments over on Ed’s post. I am starting to think of adjusting my six. I might change out Desmond for Juliet and Locke for Sayid. That’s just because those two just linked up with Jack, Kate and the “rescuers.”
Lost: The Beginning of the End
Per standard practice from last year, I am simply going to dump an aside here to my comments on Ed’s post about each episode over on The Ed Zone. For summary here, my six are: Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sawyer, Locke and Desmond.
ATHF: Couple Skate
Sucked. Again.
Maybe Ed is right. This show is over.
The crypt keeper type dude is named Markula and the teens enlist Carl to come to their rescue in his cave somewhere. Apparently they won’t pay him the October rent because he won’t fix a gas leak in the house, so he has them hostage. Meanwhile, new tenant Paul, a giant monster, has trashed the house and stolen all the copper pipe to sell for a fix. Carl comes to Markula’s 4040 birthday and kills him with garlic champagne.
Now, does that sound funny? Okay, how about it Paul is angry because he’s going thru a divorce? No? How about that he squishes Carl’s head off at the end? No?
Yeah…
This week’s is named “Redickulous”, so… you know… yeah… I’m all about Frisky Dingo now anyway.
ATHF: Sirens
For whatever reason, this blog seems to get hit a lot by stoner college kidz sniffing out ATHF soundboards, clips and grabs. A few pics aside, I have just about none of that, but whatevs.
New episodes have started back up with this past Sunday’s “Sirens” featuring Carl. Now, I know I missed the last one or two of the last run and have yet to see the movie film for theaters or DVD, so maybe I don’t entirely know what is going on and maybe not, but — this is an excessively long sentence — I scratched my head more than I laughed. By far.
The only funny thing was John Kruk as a mythical siren and calling Carl an asshole after he convinced him to cut off his own nipples. I didn’t get the crypt keeper type dude, didn’t know where the teens were and found Carl to be… not funny. Also, Neko Case voiced another of the sirens, but I only knew that from the credits.
I’m either over this show or I need to get back up to speed. Either way, this one sucked and I don’t know that I’m looking forward to the... Continue reading »
My Charlie Brown Christmas
I realize that most no one reads this blog anymore, and if you are reading at all, then you are probably out rushing around to finish up your last minute shopping, etc. Well, should you have ended up here because you needed a break, then I implore you to watch the video below. It will make me happy.
Yes, in the spirit of regifting, I am reposting this from last year, which I reposted from Joe (via the now defunct Scooby Speak).
My civic duty
Oooh… I just love it when I can use a Scrubs inspired title for a blog post.
So, today I fulfilled my civic duty by spending a day in the jury pool. I know… fun, right?
Actually, not that bad. It would seem that the folks at this particular courthouse get the fact that no one wants to be there. In fact, I think many are working on their amateur night stand-up routines. I won’t get into the specifics of their comedy, suffice to say that it wasn’t half bad. Heck, even two judges were part of the act!
The decades old orientation video even provided some unintentional comedy. Not quite like a Hanso Foundation film reel, but maybe as old. I’m guessing by the clothing and hairstyles that this thing was filmed during my high school years, so late eighties.
All kidding aside, I will say that the folks were all very nice, especially those two judges and the two court officers babysitting us. This seemed in sharp contrast to the procedural folks I remember from my last dip in the pool 11-12 years ago. As for the folks in the pool its... Continue reading »
Shocking
What a weekend!
(Now, what a week too!)
I started writing this post on Monday night, but I got sidetracked by one of the topics, which I will get to in a minute. Funny thing about the post was everything (five things) revolves around the word shock, hence the title shocking. I find it even funnier that an event happened on Tuesday to add a sixth, so the word of the month is now shocking. Anyway, I’m trimming some of the fat since I have more to add on…
I was going to talk further about the Pat’s spying scandal because some of the other information that came out during the weekend (losing draft pick(s)?!, leak of tape, even more penalties if Belichick doesn’t turn over all data), but there is just too much and I am just too sick of it all. Now, don’t we have the Mangenius being accused of something by the Ravens? Oh, and can we stop referring to every scandal as a “Gate”? It was just Watergate. Let it go already! Anyway, I’ll just leave this one as disappointing on many angles, but particularly because it tarnishes,... Continue reading »
Three se7ens
Not sure why I feel compelled to post something today. I mean, it is cool that today is 07.07.07 and all, but does that mean I need to acknowledge that with a post?
This is a post, so I guess so, but how to acknowledge it exactly? I mean, I can’t just post this and be on my way, can I?
I suppose I could, but I did have one little idea. I thought, maybe since there are three sevens, I’d do three lists of seven. And, since it is Summer, maybe have one list be of things I have enjoyed so far, another of things I have not and finally, the third of things I am looking forward to over the rest of the Summer.
Yeah, that works and it gives me a chance to fill in some blanks since I haven’t posted much lately. Of course, it hasn’t been officially Summer for but three weeks, but we all know we started thinking it was way earlier than what the solstice tells us, right?
Anyway, here goes nothing:
Seven up
- Transformers Yup, just saw it today and I’m leading off with it. Even if you are not a fan, of them or Michael B... Continue reading »

Creativity on strike
As you no doubt know by now, the folks responsible for the somewhat fine writing on television and film went on strike yesterday. Now we can wait for an inundation of reality TV to fill in throughout the strike once the nets no longer have any first run shows left and need a non-rerun ratings grab.
To me, there’s a positive and a negative here. The positive is I am hoping that the flood of reality shows kills the genre. I am hoping that once America is supersaturated with this crap, they will turn their backs on it. Yeah, I’m probably hoping for too much…
The negative is this may adversely impact the few shows I still watch. (I’ll have a post about this soon.) The biggest being my favorite show Scrubs. As noted in an E! Online News story about the strike, this already shortened season show (and still not filmed in HD!!!) is eight episodes short in completion. Should the strike drag on too this series may not get the ... Continue reading »
